5G represents a massive leap forward in wireless technology. It operates on new frequency bands that allow data to travel significantly faster than 4G LTE. To access the 5G network, you must have a smartphone with a built-in 5G antenna. If you put a 5G SIM card into an older 4G phone, it will simply connect to the 4G network. Fortunately, many Lifeline providers now issue 5G-capable Android devices as their standard offering.
