How embedded SIM technology is changing the Lifeline application process.
An eSIM (Embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card that allows you to activate a cellular plan without having to wait for a physical plastic SIM card to arrive in the mail. If you own a modern unlocked smartphone (like an iPhone 13 or later), you can likely use an eSIM.
Several progressive Lifeline providers now offer eSIM activation for their Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) programs. This means that once the National Verifier approves your application, you can simply scan a QR code on your computer screen to instantly activate your free monthly cellular service.
