Using your Link Card to get a free government phone.
The Illinois Link Card is the EBT card used to distribute SNAP (food stamps) and cash assistance in Illinois. If you actively use a Link Card, you meet the primary requirement for the Lifeline program.
To avoid application delays, do not just take a picture of your Link card. The National Verifier requires proof that the benefits are currently active in your name. Log in to the Illinois ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility) Manage My Case portal and download a recent Notice of Decision to upload with your phone application.
Most households qualify through income or a program like SNAP, Medicaid, or SSI. Check eligibility →
