How your food assistance card qualifies you for free cellular service.
In Michigan, SNAP (Food Assistance Program) benefits are distributed on the Michigan Bridge Card. If you hold an active Bridge Card, you are legally entitled to receive a free smartphone and monthly service plan through the federal Lifeline program.
During the Lifeline application, you must prove you receive these benefits. Because some Bridge Cards do not have names printed on them, a photo of the card alone may be rejected. Instead, log in to the MI Bridges portal and download an official benefit verification letter to ensure instant approval.
