Using North Carolina's ePASS system to get your free phone.
In North Carolina, the NC FAST system uses the consumer-facing ePASS portal to manage Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services (SNAP). Active enrollment in either of these programs qualifies you for the federal Lifeline benefit.
To avoid delays in getting your free smartphone, log in to your ePASS account and download a copy of your benefit verification letter. This document is highly preferred by the National Verifier over physical ID cards because it explicitly proves your benefits are currently active.
