While being a student does not automatically grant you a free phone, many students qualify through their household's income or participation in other programs. If a child in the household receives Free or Reduced-Price School Lunches, or if a college student receives a Federal Pell Grant, the household may qualify for a free device.
A parent or guardian can apply for the Lifeline program on behalf of their child. The child is listed as the "Benefit Qualifying Person" (BQP), and the parent manages the account. This ensures children have the connectivity needed for modern education.
