The Lifeline program is designed to help low-income Americans stay connected. There are two primary ways to prove you need this assistance: through your household income, or through participation in a government assistance program.
You qualify immediately if you receive SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8), or the Veterans Pension. Residents of Tribal lands have additional qualifying programs, such as Tribal TANF or BIA General Assistance.
If you do not participate in those programs, you can still qualify if your total household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. You will need to provide tax returns or consecutive pay stubs to prove this.
