If You Received a Free Phone

Most free government phones arrive with the SIM card already inserted. Simply turn the phone on, follow the on-screen setup instructions, and make a test call to ensure the service is active.

If You Brought Your Own Phone (BYOP)

If we mailed you a SIM card kit to use in your own unlocked device, follow these steps:

Turn your phone completely off.
Use the provided SIM ejector tool (or a paperclip) to open your phone's SIM tray.
Insert the new SIM card, making sure the gold contacts face the correct direction.
Turn the phone on and wait a few minutes for the network bars to appear.
