Understand the warranty coverage for your free government phone or purchased device.
Most free smartphones provided through our Lifeline carrier partners come with a limited 90-day to 1-year manufacturer warranty. This warranty covers internal hardware defects (such as a battery that won't charge or a screen that won't turn on). It does not cover physical damage, water damage, or lost/stolen devices. If your free phone arrives defective, contact support immediately for a free replacement.
If you purchased a brand new unlocked phone or a certified refurbished phone from our Store, the warranty terms are clearly stated on your receipt. Certified refurbished devices typically include a 90-day warranty against defects, while brand-new devices carry a full 1-year manufacturer warranty.
Most households qualify through income or a program like SNAP, Medicaid, or SSI. Check eligibility →
